Wedding Bliss

Happy Friday, everyone! Today is the day! Today is my wedding day. The day I’ve been looking forward to since I was a little girl. As a child, I wasn’t really concerned with what my wedding day would look like, but who I would be marrying.

On August 6,2023, when my then boyfriend proposed to and became my fiancée, there was a tangible difference in our status, relationship, and even the way we treated each other. We had always treated one another with love, kindness, respect, etc., but this was different. The transition from boyfriend and girlfriend to fiancé had more weight and depth to it. Funny enough, I noticed a tangible difference in my relationship with Jesus Christ as well.

One day as I was wedding planning. I was having a stressful moment. In that moment, I stopped, took a breath and asked the Holy Spirit to help me plan our wedding. As soon as I prayed that prayer, I realized that my relationship with Christ felt different (more depth and weight) to it because I was also transitioning into a greater relationship and covenant with Him. There was a realization that I was marrying Christ too. I had already been His bride when I accepted Him as Lord and Savior, but again, there was more weight to it.

Now, the wedding day is here and I sense the shift, depth and weight of it again. This depth and weight isn’t a bad thing and it doesn’t feel heavy, but I am aware of the responsibility. I am aware of the importance this day signifies between John and I and the Lord and I. I’m marrying both of them and John is marrying Christ and me. We are all entering into greater covenant, love and intimacy.

In reality, that’s always what the Lord wants with us. Greater covenant, love and intimacy. To be the most important One in our lives, as He should be. All for love and because of love.

If you’re reading this and don’t know or believe in Jesus, that’s okay. Welcome to On Fridays, We Clean and know that the God of the universe is absolutely besotted with you. He loves you with a love that we’ll never truly understand because of our flawed understanding of love. He wants you to get to know Him and He’ll wait for you. You don’t have to be afraid of Him. Don’t believe the lies that He’s a mean God, pointing His finger at you and condemning you.  He loves you and is waiting with open arms to embrace you with unconditional love.  You can give Him a chance. Give Him a chance to show you who He really is, not what people have told you, and experience Him for yourself.

We love you, Jesus and me.
