Pour It Out

It is Friday! Hello to the weekend.

As you guys know my entire blog is about cleaning and including Jesus into those times of cleaning and in all the details of life. The little things, the big things, the simple tasks and everything in between. It’s about making your relationship with Jesus personal.

Every two weeks I clean our dishwasher. I don’t manually scrub it or anything like that. What I do is take a mug and pour half a cup of vinegar or bleach into it. I put that mug in the center of the dishwasher, add a dishwasher detergent pod into its proper place and then start the machine. I do this so it kills any odors, cleans the inside of the machine itself(bacteria buildup) and because my mommy told me it is necessary to make sure the inside of the machine is clean as well.

Earlier this week it was time for the dishwasher to be cleaned. Interestingly enough, I felt like I noticed an odor in the dishwasher. I looked inside to see if there was anything that needed to be manually removed. There was nothing, at least not that I noticed. As I poured the vinegar into the mug, I felt the Holy Spirit tell me “pour yourself out to Me the same way you’re pouring vinegar into the mug.” I stood there for a moment and thought what on earth do you mean? I give myself to you daily. You know you have my heart. I have poured out my best to you. Tell me what you mean. Truthfully, I didn’t get a response in that moment. However, I did get the sense that I was going to have to pray and push through in prayer to understand what He meant. Now for some people they may be okay with pushing through in prayer, however, if I am being honest, I am not always that person. That may come as a shock because I genuinely love to pray and most people know that. I believe prayer changes things; I’ve seen prayer change things with my own eyes. Prayer blesses my heart so much, but I was so surprised by what He said that I wanted an answer right then and there. But, I didn’t get one. Truthfully, there have been moments in my Christ walk where pushing through in prayer has been aggravating because I “feel” like why do I have to push through? We have relationship, we have been in relationship for years, you know my heart, so why do I have to keep working at this? Why haven’t we just arrived to You responding when I ask? Y’all, talk about needing to check the attitude of my heart… (Psalm 139: 23-24)

One of the greatest resources we have to connection with the Father is prayer. Prayer is communicating with the Lord. It’s a way of getting to know Him, spending time with Him, loving on Him and for Him to love on us. It’s truly just talking to Him. You guys, prayer is a gift! I’m going to say it again, prayer is a gift. It’s not only a gift, it is necessary. It is necessary to pray and to push through in prayer in certain seasons.

Truthfully, He still hasn’t responded to my question in prayer about what He meant. However, I have decided to push through. The same way that I am intentional about cleaning the inside of our dishwasher every two weeks is the same way I have to be intentional in prayer, but daily.

I get the sense that this topic of prayer may extend for sometime, so I look forward to you all sticking around with me as we pray and push through together.

Xoxo
