Get In The Tub
Happy Friday everyone!
My last few posts have been about prayer. Today’s post will be closing out our prayer topic, at least for now.
Friday mornings before I start working, one of the first things I do is clean the bathroom. I first take out the towels, washcloths, and throw rugs and put them to wash. After putting them in the washer, I start removing all items in the bathroom shower, on the sink, etc, so that I can pour out all the cleaning supplies I am gong to use in order to clean. This morning was no different. As soon as I finished brushing my teeth, I put everything in the washer and got to work. While I was srubbing the bathtub, I decided to physically get into the tub and scrub it a bit more. While I was there, I started to sing a song called “Lost in Your Love” by Brandon Lake. One of the lines from the song says, “ Your power is found in the roughest waters, when I have no choice but to trust You, Father. Where My every fear has to surrender, I will trust in You forever. Take me there, oh, take me there.” As I sang the song, I began to pray, Lord help me live in a place of trust where my fears have to surrender to You. I want to live in Your perfect love. I want to live freely where my heart, spirit and soul know they can trust in You and depend on You.
In reality, that can seem like a hard venture to execute, to live in a place of consistently surrendering my fears when they arise. So much so that fear doesn’t even become an issue anymore. What can seem impossible is actually quite possible. 1 John gives us a clear answer on what casts out fear. The answer is Love. 1 John 4: 18 says, “ There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
My friends, the answer is and will always be love! The love of God is like nothing we could ever imagine, describe or even fully appreciate until we are in glory with the Father. Love came in human form years ago as a man named Jesus. Love died for us, love gives to us, and love frees us. Love is for us. Love makes us new. Love transforms us from the inside out and love casts out all fear. Love physically drives out fear and sends it back to the hell where it came from! Love frees us from the punishment and torment of fear. Fear can no longer have a hold on us.
My prayer today was teach me how to live in His perfect love. To show me how to live in a place of consistent surrender. Truthfully, that can only be established as I fall more in love with Him. It can only happen as I allow Him to continue to work in my heart and give Him permission to clean me out.
What is your prayer when it comes to love? Do you want to live a life of complete surrender where fear cannot take hold? If so, then ask Him to show you His love. He loves you so much that He died for you and came back! Love is alive and that love is Jesus.
We love you, Jesus and me.
