So This Is Love
Happy Friday everyone,
A few weeks ago, my Mima texted me and told me she was thinking of me. She told me to read Psalm 42 and Psalm 43. She then reminded me of Psalm 84:11 which says, “For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Funny enough, that was my scripture for 2017 so it was a nice reminder of His promise to me.
This morning I was reading Psalm 42 and 43 again. Those chapters have been the cry of my heart. My heart has been crying out the portion of scripture that says, “I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again- my Savior and my God!” I have been saying this so much that this morning I felt like I heard my soul say it. I was trying to pray and I heard my spirit say, “Put your hope in Him. Praise Him yet again.”
This morning, instead of reading Psalm 42 and 43 over again, I decided to read Psalm 45.
I started to laugh as I was reading Psalm 45 because Psalms 42-43 are such heartfelt prayers and then Psalm 45 is a wedding poem. It’s a poem of the excellence of His majesty as He prepares to take a bride. When Israel’s king was happy and in a fruitful marriage, it assured the people of stable leadership. Psalm 45:6-7 stood out the most and those verses say, ”Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your Kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” As we know, Jesus comes, the Messiah, the Anointed One, is King! He is proof of stable leadership, love and lays down His life for His bride. This wedding poem that seems to be only about a king’s marriage is actually about God’s marriage to the Church. It’s a beautiful moment of joy after gut wrenching prayers in the previous chapters.
I’m so grateful for Jesus. I’m so grateful that we are His bride. I’m so thankful that joy and celebration comes after heartfelt prayers. I’m so grateful that He listens to us. I’m so grateful that in our relationship with Him we can trust His stable leadership as we follow Him. He can be trusted.
I don’t know what you’re going through, but know that you are in the greatest relationship and romance of your life. Not only is it the greatest romance, but it is stable as well! We have stable leadership in our relationship with Jesus.
Stability is a big deal for me. There have been moments in my walk with Jesus where it doesn’t always “feel” stable, but that has to do more with me and not Him. He is consistent. He remains the same. He is the same. You can trust Him. He is trustworthy. He can be trusted with your entire life and not only certain parts. He is stable leadership so go ahead and rest in Him.
We love you, Jesus and me.
